E.L.S.A
The role of the Emotional Literacy Support Assistant is to support children and young people with their emotions by promoting their wellbeing. ELSA acknowledges that children and young people learn best when they feel happier and their emotional needs are being met. Our ELSA at Canterbury Road Primary School is Mrs. Spice who has been trained to plan and deliver programmes of support for the children that may be experiencing both short-term and long-term additional emotional needs.
A lot of the work carried out by Mrs. Spice is carried out on a one-to-one basis, however at times group sessions will take place when working on social and friendship skills.
Mrs. Spice can support children with the following:
- Anxiety
- Anger management
- Bereavement
- Social skills
- Friendship skills
- Self-esteem
- Growth mindset
- Social situations
A more detailed leaflet can be obtained by request about your child’s suitability for these sessions by contacting the school office or Mrs Spice.
